TT: How long have you been writing? What interested you about it?
EP: Writing has always been a passion of mine, but just recently I feel that I have found my writing voice! I have enjoyed writing for personal enjoyment and growth, but I am so thankful to be able to share these pieces with an audience!
TT: What inspired you to write this piece(s)?
EP: Being away from home, especially during the pandemic, I began to think about familial relationships in connection to my identity, which inspired "Mosaic of My Family." "Unnamed Woman Lost to Lineage" was inspired by a fluttering thought I had related to marriage and identity.
TT: Is this similar or different to other things you’ve written? How so?
EP: I often using writing as a way to discover, work through, and strengthen my identity. I love writing about niche moments and things, which I do in "Mosaic of My Family." I have found that specificity brings an element of surprise and personality.
TT: Who is your favorite author or writer? What do you like about their work?
EP: During my time at Fredonia, I found my favorite poet, Naomi Shihab Nye. She is a master at stringing words together in such a delicate and powerful way.
